This one time at camp…my aunt sent me a giraffe
Posted by

Listing Photo I have a niece that goes away to camp every summer. This year instead of sending her simple postcards, I decided to create a few pop-ups to send.  I created this double polyhedron (based loosely on my Kerywn Pop-Up I created for Svengoolie) and turned it into a giraffe. My niece Holly loves giraffes and wrote me to comment on it.  It's always nice to think you look cool in the eyes of your brother's kids!...

What is a Slide-Chart?
Posted by

Listing Photo A slide-chart is a hand-held device, usually of paper, cardboard, or plastic, for conducting simple calculations or looking up information. A circular slide chart is sometimes referred to as a wheel chart or volvelle.   BUT there is so much more to what we do here at American/Perrygraf! Here’s a little glossary of the terms we use.   Fold and Glue: A slide-chart that is folded book style. It incorporates a glue flap to close the chart up and has die-cut windows to set/read hidden data. Example: Kimberly Clark     Build Up: A slide-chart that is held together with grommets (sometimes called eyelets). As opposed to being book style, this is more along the lines of sandwich style. The slide inside the chart runs along strips which are called runners. Example: Philips     Double or multiple Pocket Fo...

Svengoolie has been a horror movie host for numerous years in the Chicago area. Every week he shows movies with his own style of humor which has attracted fans from all over the country. Since he is based in our area, one of our employees presented him with a pop-up fashioned after his wise-cracking side-kick Kerwyn.  "I've been a fan of Svengoolie's since I was in high school in the early 80's. I have done computer drawings of him and I thought how much fun it would be to create a pop-up out of his chicken buddy Kerwyn" ~ Nanette We were thrilled that he featured the pop-up on his show. States Nanette "I always watch and record so I was excited that he showed my Kerywn on the air!" Svengoolie can be found on MeTV all over the country.       ...

Specialty Calculators

Listing Photo Slide Rules are computing devices that would appear to be multiple rulers working together. In their most basic form, they multiply two numbers by sliding in relation to each other until desired numbers are lined up. They are utilized to do speedy routine mathematical work, in a variety of conditions.       If you looked under the experience section of Slide Rule’s resume you would find: landed astronauts on the Moon (1), aided bombardiers and navigators during World War II; calculated fuel usage and altitude for U.S. Navy aircraft ranges; consulted with engineers to construct the Empire State Building, Hoover Dam, and the curves of the Golden Gate Bridge. (2)   Still making an impact today, American Slide-Chart / Perrygraf produces slide charts, devices that operate on the principle of a slide rule. We have produced charts that aid in fighting fir...

How to Simplify Ordering
Posted by

Poring over catalog pages, looking for an item that has all the required features and specifications needed, can be a frustrating and time-consuming activity.  A Harvard Business Review study found that one of the most common consumer responses to excess information is to forego a purchase altogether.   Ordering charts can streamline product information, enabling companies to keep it simple and keep their customers. Our multiple slide format enables users to select desired features and specifications, yielding a quick and easy product number. By pulling each slide up or down until the desired choice appears in the appropriate window of the outer case results in a complete order number when the combined window copy is read from left to right.   Digits Managed So many product combinations, in so little space… Take a look at how these companies used the multi-slid...
